Willow Wood creates eye-catching garden of 1,000 lights

THE glorious gardens at Willow Wood are used throughout the warmer months by patients, visitors, staff and volunteers alike as a peaceful place to sit, to stroll, to relax and to reflect.

However, they would love to extend the time they can use them, and have come up with the idea of a ‘Garden of 1,000 lights’.

Dave, Willow Wood’s maintenance manager, testing some of the donated lights

From November 21, every Tuesday and Thursday evening between 6pm-8pm, the beautifully maintained gardens will be ablaze with lights.

Trees will be wrapped in twinkling lights, glowing stars hang from branches, spotlights illuminate the landscaping and they will even be a Christmas tableau.

These brilliant displays will be visible from all the patient rooms and Willow Wood is also opening its doors to anyone else who wishes to see the lights.

There will be no charge to enter but they will be serving hot drinks, Baileys, mulled wine, homemade mince pies and a selection of cakes.

All the lights have been donated to Willow Wood, and they thank all the contributors, especially Daisy Nook Garden Centre for their generous donation and Diane Barlow and Katy Mitchell for the wonderful Santa and sleigh.

Further donations of outdoor lights would still be very much appreciated.

Willow Wood is a purpose-built Hospice providing specialist Palliative Care to those suffering with life-limiting illnesses. Visit them at Mellor Rd, Ashton-under-Lyne OL6 6SL, or call: 0161 330 1100.
