Special recognition for long-serving teachers at Buckton Vale

TWO long-serving teachers from Buckton Vale Primary School, Carrbook, have been recognised for their services to education with a mayoral reception.

Jenny, Cllr Bowerman, and Jacky

Jacky Brand and Jenny Brierley, who have each taught for 31 years at the school, were special guests of Cllr Joyce Bowerman at the Mayor’s Parlour for a reception.

Headteacher Deborah Brown paid tribute to the pair’s dedication and commitment.

She said: “Their experience is huge and people underestimate the power of that.

“I am the fourth headteacher since they arrived at the school, but they have embraced and accepted change and moved with the times.

“I cannot stress how proud we are all of them.”

Jacky, who took along her first payslip, teaches year one and such is her longevity that there are about eight current pupils whose parents she also taught at Buckton Vale.

Jenny, meanwhile, works two days each week and looks after year six.
