New team joins flourishing Stalybridge Snooker League

STALYBRIDGE Snooker League held an extraordinary general meeting at the end of October to welcome a new team from Stalybridge Labour Club with effect from November 2.

This increased the number of teams to six from the start of the second quarter of the league and there would be no more free weeks.

The problem was to decide how to integrate them into the league after it had started and all teams were given the unplayed matches 5-0. They would only be in the snooker league and aimed to join the whist league from next season.

They could compete in all the snooker knockout competitions at the end of the season. They league has now increased from four teams last year to six with the possibility of more new ones next year.

In the last matches of the old league, Mossley B had a week off and Hyde Snooker travelled to St Peters, with Mossley A playing St Georges. In Mossley, the A team beat St Georges 5-0 but lost the cards and in Stalybridge, Hyde Snooker beat St Peter’s 4-1 and also won the whist match on the turn of the last four cards to record their first win in that league.
