DOGS were given a free health check at a Stalybridge pet shop.
The People’s Dispensary for Sick Animals put on the event at Petzworld, Melbourne Street.
Kylie Jones, from the charity, gave checks to seven dogs during the day.
The charity was founded in 1917 by Maria Dickin to provide care for sick and injured animals belonging to the poor.
The dogs were assessed with the MOT covering: environment, diet, behaviour, companionship and health. Free ear cleaning and nail clippings were offered.
Owners were also given an action plan to help them care for their dog.
The event was organised by Michelle Hennessy to celebrate the first anniversary of her dog grooming business and for taking over ownership of the pet shop on August 1.
Michelle had operated from Armentieres Square since March 2016 and before that offered a mobile service.
She offers dog grooming in space at the back of the pet shop.
