STAYLEY Cricket Club has re-signed Hamza Nadeem as its professional for their debut season in the Greater Manchester Cricket League.
The Pakistani will be returning to the Millbrook club for a fourth season.
Stayley has also captured all-rounder Michael Bird, from Greenfield, but captain Peter Skuse is not envisaging any further arrivals.
Skuse is looking forward to a new adventure in the Greater Manchester Cricket League.
“Greenfield and Royton are the only teams we have come up against so we will be playing against a lot of new clubs and visiting new grounds. It is exciting,” he said.
Off the pitch, Stayley raised £309.94 towards a defibrillator at the club.
A fundraising event featuring five artistes was held in the clubhouse towards the £800 needed to install the potentially life-saving device.
Club chairman Derek Whitfield added donations would be gratefully accepted towards the target.
Stayley’s annual presentation night has been postponed until January due to a delay in engraving the trophies.
