A DERELICT building is to get a new lease of life when it reopens as a nursery.
Funtasia Kids Club is setting up business in the old library in Millbrook, off Huddersfield Road.
Owner Karen Sanderson has taken the keys of the building and is now converting it ahead of opening in September. She has already received 28 expressions of interest from parents.
Karen currently runs five before and after school clubs, including one at St Raphael’s, Millbrook. Four are rated outstanding by Ofsted and the other good.
Funtasia First Steps will be providing high quality childcare in what it says will be a safe and stimulating environment.
And it will be available to parents of children aged between three months old and five years old. They will all follow the Early Years Framework.
It will have three rooms indoors and a safe and secure outdoor area with learning opportunities to support all areas of development, nature areas, sensory play as well as opportunities to develop gross motor skills.
Karen, whose daughters Karla, Samantha and Emma help to run the business, said: “We are lucky that we have a wonderful nature area on our doorstep so we will have lots of outings in the country park.
“Experienced, qualified and fully first aid trained staff will ensure children are cared for in a warm, loving environment.
“Our nursery will benefit by having a qualified teacher who will support the children through their learning journey.”
Karen also says she has been bowled over by the response to the impending opening, adding:
“Thank you everyone for your lovely comments and the tremendous interest shown in our new venture, it means so much.”
