ENQUIRIES are ongoing following the discovery of a body in Ashton town centre early in the morning of Friday, August 3.
They received a call at 6.55am following a report that the body of a male had been found at the Memorial Gardens, off Fraser Street.
Officers attended and discovered the body of a man whose identity has not been revealed.
Police forensics officers erected a tent around the body and they combed the area for evidence before the body was moved.
A GMP spokesperson said: “At around 6.55am on 3 August 2018 police were called to reports of a body found at the memorial gardens off Fraser Street.
“Officers attended and discovered the body of a man.
“Enquiries into the man’s death had determined that there are no suspicious circumstances and a file has been passed to the coroner.”
