IT was described as ‘birdy fun for the whole family’ as they winged their way in their hundreds to Cheetham Park, Stalybridge.
‘Hoot, Screech & Hoot’ was one of many free events put on by Tameside Cultural Services during the school holidays.
Families from throughout Tameside and some from further afield enjoyed three hours of fun with bird-related activities.
There were puppeteers and performances from Scallywags Theatre Company with the giant Magna Avium Gigantus bird puppet, a source of fascination for children.
The Wise Owl Bird of Prey Rescue, from Huddersfield, provided a birds of prey flying display and youngsters were also able to let owls sit on their arm.
Tameside Countryside Services had a stand where children were able to make their own owls.
And the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds were also represented where children could learn more about them.
Lesley Bardsley, from Tameside Cultural Services, was delighted with the turnout at Cheetham Park and also for the other free events staged throughout the borough.
