Pauline looks to pass on the reins of popular shop

PAULINE Davies might be hanging up her knitting needles at All Fabrics in Stalybridge, but she is hoping to find the right person to continue running the popular business.

Opened in January 2014, the well-loved shop on Grosvenor Street specialises in quilting, dress and craft fabric plus wool, and haberdashery.

Now, Pauline is calling time on the shop as she retires along with her husband James, who is selling his newsagents on Hamilton Street, Ridge Hill.

She explained: “I’ve been here nearly five years and it’s time to retire now and I hope someone else can take it on.

“Thank you to our loyal customers, who keep saying they don’t want to see us go, as their support over the years has been fantastic.

“I set up the business for something to do for a short while before retiring.

“I used to work for Halifax, then we had a newsagents and gift shop for 12 years in Buxton.

“After that I was looking to get back into banking but it was difficult as they were looking to employ younger people. So I started All Fabrics and I’ve loved my time here.”

Pauline’s lease is up for renewal in December so she hopes to pass on the reins to the shop and e-shop ( to a new business owner by then.

The premises include a large shop floor, first floor sewing room, kitchen upstairs and down-stairs with washroom and toilet on the first floor.

Rent at present is £6,000 per annum + VAT. No rates payable on small business allowance scheme at present time. Business price: £18,000 + SAV.
