Dukinfield man guilty of racially aggravated offence

A Dukinfield man has been found guilty of a Racially Aggravatied Public Order offence.

Michael Bray, 52 years old, of Lord Street, Dukinfield appeared at Tameside Magistrates Court on 18th October 2018.

The charge relates to a hate crime incident in September 2018 at Tameside hospital Accident & Emergency department where police and security staff were called to deal with a male being aggressive and racially abusive to NHS staff.

The court imposed a compensation order of £40, victim services surcharge of £85 and a Community Order with Rehabilitation conditions and Unpaid work requirements (180 hours).

Inspector Derbyshire of Greater Manchester Police stated;

“Safe to say our local A&E department, NHS England and Police are under enough pressure without people choosing to commit offences and cause disruption there”.
