Communities set for Remembrance parades

STALYBRIDGE’S business community is uniting to make the town’s remembrance parade extra special on the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War.

Stalybridge Town has arranged for large poppies to be placed on lamp-posts along the route of the parade on Sunday, November 11.

Businesses have donated around £300 for the purchase of 40 poppies.

The Stalybridge parade leaves Armentieres Square at 10.35am and heads to the Trinity Street war memorial for a service and wreath laying at 10.55am.

Meanwhile, the Mossley service and wreath laying is at the war memorial in Mossley Park, beginning at 10.45am.

St James’ Church, Millbrook, will have a special service of remembrance on Sunday, November 11.

Their usual Sunday service of morning praise will be from 10.15am to 10.50am and will be followed by the remembrance tribute between 10.50am and 11.30am.

Refreshments will be served after the service.
