BUCKTON Vale Institute is opening its doors for longer, but will only keep doing so if it proves popular enough.
The club in Carrbrook Village will now open on Fridays from 5pm instead of 8pm.
However this is only as a trial until the turn of the year, when its success will be reviewed and a decision made on whether to bring it in permanently.
Put simply, if enough people come through the doors, the doors will stay open.
In another move, card payments are now being accepted at the club, subject to a minimum spend of £2.50.
Suggestions for alternative entertainment on Saturday nights are being welcomed, either by e-mail or by leaving a note in the suggestion box in the foyer.
• We have been asked to point out fundraising initiatives by grateful Carrbrook residents that raised £1,500 for Oldham Mountain Rescue Team and GM Fire and Rescue Service included a £100 donation by W Maher & Sons Ltd from Buckton Vale Quarry.
All artists who performed at the charity event at Buckton Vale Institute gave their time free of charge.
