Seraphina puts on festive raffle for good causes

PEOPLE have the chance to do their bit for others thanks to one kind-hearted business.

Seraphina is running a raffle for a Christmas hamper with all proceeds going to charity Reuben’s Retreat.

And it is also helping out the homeless by asking for donations of hats, gloves, scarves and ladies toiletries, which will be given out to agencies that work with women and the homeless.

This is the ethos of the centre, which is based on Stamford Street in Ashton, to promote health and well-being and to support all who are in need.

“We support Reuben’s Retreat all year round but we’ve done a Christmas hamper that we’re raffling off,” owner Susan Cheetham explained.

“It’s £1 a ticket and will be drawn on December 17. It includes a £50 voucher for our shop along with other items, including tealights and incense.

“And things have been going great. We’ve already sold more than £100 worth of tickets when I’d only mentioned the raffle on social media once.

“Tickets for the raffle are available until December 16.”

Raffle and collections aside, it is exciting times at Seraphina, a centre that has been open for five-and-a-half years and as Susan says is ‘going from strength to strength’.

It promotes a positive mental attitude and well-being as she says people become more disillusioned with life.

As well as the gift shop, there is a cafe, a ladies’ clothes store and is home to seven therapists, who offer reflexology, massage, Indian Head Massage, Angelic Reiki and kinesiology and now it provides beauty treatments.

They also offer yoga and meditation sessions, with treatments costing £25 per hour and the classes between £5 and £7.

From January 2, they will be joined by four podiatrists from Ashton Foot Clinic as their current home, Shubar, is closing.

Susan added: “All the treatments are available in the daytime and we’ve just had a lady start with us who offers non-surgical facelifts, which are proving very popular.”

• Seraphina and its cafe are open from Tuesday-Saturday from 10am until 4pm and will be opening on Mondays after Christmas.
