CHILDREN at Millbrook Primary were treated to a pantomime production of Sleeping Beauty.
It was put on by Outside The Box Productions and was thanks to a legacy left by Mabel Wilson who died in October 2017 aged 87.
Mabel left £10,000 to benefit the community in the town where she was born, though that figure has grown to £14,000 thanks to other fund-raising in her memory.
Money was given to six local schools and Millbrook Primary used their £300 to put on a panto for their pupils.
Teacher Sophie Davis said: “Sometimes we go to a panto but we didn’t have money in the budget this year.
“It was great to be able to put on the panto thanks to this gift as otherwise we wouldn’t have had one.”
She added putting on the panto would also tick another box as they work towards achieving a platinum arts mark – they currently have gold status.
Arts marks are focused on raising standards and Millbrook Primary has pupils who are art, music and drama ambassadors.
