WHO is in the frame at the half-way point of the Stalybridge Snooker League?
With Mossley ‘A’ and Hyde Snooker Club tied at the top of the table after the first seven fixtures, the next few weeks would have a big bearing on how the league looks approaching the half way stage in the league.
In week eight, St Peter’s beat Mossley ‘B’ 3-2 at home, Mossley ‘A’ won by the same scoreline at home to Hyde SC and new boys Stalybridge Labour won 4-1 at Staly Vegas. There was only one match played in the whist league and St Peter’s lost 149-111 to Mossley ‘B’.
Staly Vegas won 4-1 at home to St Peter’s in week nine, Staly Labour beat Mossley ‘A’ 3-2 and played Hyde SC beat Mossley ‘B’ 4-1. In the whist league St Peter’s beat Staly Vegas 131-129.
In week 10, the last matches of the second quarter saw Mossley ‘A’ beat Staly Vegas 3-2, Hyde SC beat St Peter’s 4-1 at home and Mossley ‘B’ won 3-2 at Staly Labour.
In the only card game, Staly Vegas lost 147-113 to Mossley ‘A’. These results mean that at the half way stage the snooker league, the leaders are Hyde SC who are two points ahead of Mossley ‘A’. In the cards league, Mossley ‘B’ lead Mossley ‘A’ by only one point.
As it is the end of the second quarter, the league had a monthly meeting where handicaps were reviewed to apply over the next five matches. They also looked at some outstanding card matches which were not played and discussed many items that needed looking at to apply over the full season.
Week 11 was the first one with the new handicaps and Staly Labour won 4-1 at St Peter’s, Mossley ‘A’ beat Mossley B 3-2 with Staly Vegas losing 4-1 at Hyde Snooker. There was a 132-128 victory for Mossley ‘A’ over Mossley ‘B’ in the whist league.
These results mean Hyde Snooker are still top of the league by two points from Mossley ‘A’ with Staly Labour third place. In the card league, Mossley ‘A’ are top of the league by one point over Mossley ‘B’.
The darts league has continued to move on with more matches being played and Ian Carter is still top of the league with 18 points from nine matches. There are still some players to play their first matches and hopefully they will finish them all by the end of the league season.
