MOSSLEY Hollins High School is the top performing school in Tameside for the progress of students who join them with low prior attainment.
Headteacher Stuart Marshall said: “This is wonderful news and we are proud of the outcomes such students achieve with us and the life changing opportunities it gives them.
“Great news also is the progress of our boys overall, especially in the key subjects of English and maths where they achieve the highest and second highest outcomes in Tameside.
“When we compare our students’ progress with those achieved nationally, it is very pleasing to read our girls achieve higher than their peers across the country while in the case of boys, they achieve, on average, almost a quarter of a grade better than the national in every subject.”
Mr Marshall added at Mossley Hollins they insist on the key values of manners, hard work and honesty.
He continued: “We firmly believe they make a huge difference to learners, especially those who have faced challenges in their lives.
“I am thrilled to report students who join us from less advantaged backgrounds do particularly well and their progress is in line with students from non-disadvantaged backgrounds nationally, showing that, with your support, such children can and will thrive at our school despite challenging circumstances in many cases.
“The same goes for looked after children, those in the care of the local authority, who make outstanding progress here at Mossley Hollins.
“In fact, their outcomes mean on average they achieve almost two grades higher than such children do nationally.
“Such news should make us all very proud and I would once again like to thank our parents, carers and wider family members for their incredible support.”
