Extensive £4,000 repairs at Stalybridge Unitarian Church completed

STALYBRIDGE Unitarian Church has completed £4,000 of repairs to an exterior garden wall.

Rainwater from the hill behind the church had been slowly undermining the wall and new diversion drains were installed at the same time as the re-pointing.

The church raised the money be holding a series of events including games and quiz nights.

Stalybridge has received a £5,000 cash windfall following the closure of Mossley (Christian) Unitarian Church.

Trustees decided the six other churches within the East Cheshire Union would each receive £5,000.

Clare Bullock, from Stalybridge Unitarian Church, has been installed as president of the North Cheshire Unitarian Sunday School Union.

Further fundraising events at Stalybridge Unitarian Church include a coffee morning on Monday, November 6 (10.30am-12.30pm) and Christmas fair on Saturday, November 26 (11am-2.30pm).

And Stalybridge Congregational Church is holding a crib and coffee afternoon on Saturday, December 9 (2pm-4pm) instead of the traditional Christmas fair.

Local preacher Gail Sheppard, from Stalybridge Methodist Church, will be displaying her collection of cribs and giving an explanation.
