TCA Tycoons All Star Programme has danced its way to a new studio in Stalybridge.
And the Civic Mayor of Tameside Cllr Joyce Bowerman recently performed the official opening at the premises at Ray Mill, Tame Street.
The dance school completed the move in September but waited until they had settled in before having the formal opening.
The group was formed 11 years ago by Jane Wood as a community programme, but in 2012 she took over its running.
But with 130 boys and girls between the ages of three and 27 and 22 competitive teams they outgrew their previous base at Silver Springs Primary. They also have a team of 10 fully trained coaches.
It has been a costly exercise converting the unit at Ray Mill into a dance studio, with Jane not wanting to go into specifics.
“It has been a lot of money, but worth the hard work. It has been an exciting time, but the kids love it as for many of them it is like a second home,” she continued.
Two of the members Vanessa Murphy-Wood and Megan James have been at the club since it started 11 years ago. They are now both fully qualified coaches.
The expanded facilities include a full gym, dance studio, homework area, kitchen and parents room to cope with every-growing demand.
That enables the teams, that compete in hip-hop, pom dance, jazz and cheerleading, to practice seven days a week.
“We don’t just do competition classes, but also recreational ones in all the disciplines,” explained Jane who added that family is their ethos.
She is also hoping to expand activities further with a mums and dads keep-fit session and yoga classes
TCA Tycoons compete in regional, national, European and world events.
In 2016 they won the NDA Grand Championships at Daytona, Florida, and last year competed in a major hip-hop event at Disneyland in Florida.
In the past three years TCA Tycoons have had five athletes compete for Team England in hip-hop including Vanessa Murphy-Wood who is national team captain as well as being Tycoons’ head coach of dance.
In April, Vanessa, Tara Hall and Morgan Pickup will be competing for Team England in a hip-hop event at Disneyland in Florida.
The club is looking for sponsorship and anybody interested can contact Jane at or find out more on their Facebook page.
