Bakkor the net! Celtic close in on play-off spot

STALYBRIDGE Celtic are closing in on the Evostik Premier play-off places after a convincing win over Matlock Town.

On the day they signed defender Joshua Solomon-Davies from League Two side Tranmere Rovers, Simon Haworth’s side moved to just one point from the top five.

Matty Wolfenden set the ball rolling with his second goal in two matches after good work from James Caton.

Caton then turned provider for Scott Bakkor to double the lead with a diving header before Neil Kengni’s strike from the edge of the penalty box made it 3-0.

Craig Westcarr pulled one back for Matlock in the 89th minute but Celtic were not going to be denied.

Skipper Glenn Rule also went close with a volley as Stalybridge made it two three-goal league successes in a row.

And the same three players found the net as in the 3-2 win over Bamber Bridge!

Celtic host seventh placed Gainsborough Trinity in their next league match.
