SLIMMERS in Stalybridge were able to have their cake and eat it…
Members of The Bridge Inn Slimming World group, who number 150, held a World’s Biggest Coffee Morning that raised £160 for Macmillan Cancer.
But by having cake with low sugar, fat and calories they still managed to lose a collective 196lb on the day.
“We call it low sin and you can have your cake and eat it,” explained Maria Palma who runs the group at The Bridge Inn that is the sixth largest Slimming World group in the country.
The Waxing Station, on Corporation Street, Stalybridge, got in the spirit for their fundraising event which included a tombola, hot drinks, prosecco, pies, cakes, flowers, sweets and more.
Staff and visitors at Cancer Warriors, on Melbourne Street in Stalybridge, enjoyed a delicious spread of cakes.
The support and information centre, opened in March by Derrick Evans, pictured below right, who has been diagnosed with cancer three times.
St George’s Primary School and the adjoining church teamed up to organise a joint Macmillan Cancer coffee morning that raised £624.
