Keeping it local pays off for family company

FAMILY and a sense of local pride is paying off for Stalybridge flooring firm Regency as its customer base expands.

When it came to moving premises, the company could have gone anywhere but it wanted to stay in the town it calls home.

And moving yards down Waterloo Road to its new base has really done the trick as it reports an upsurge in custom over the past few months.

Now word is spreading as it attracts customers from around the north-west.

“Since we’ve moved, everything seems to have gone a bit crazy,” said shop manager Lauren Blain, whose father David Butterworth owns the company.

“We’ve been fitting carpets for 30 years but things seem to have picked up as we’re a little more in people’s sight.

“When we decided to move premises, we really wanted to stay in Stalybridge as we’ve a really loyal customer base who recommend us to others.

“We wanted to use a building that was already there and stay right in the heart of the Stalybridge community.

“And it’s an iconic building with original beams, so it’s part of Stalybridge’s heritage and had ample parking to the front and rear.

“It has been tastefully revamped, keeping in line with the history of building
