Kienna’s on pointe for Disneyland

YOUNG ballerina Kienna Henshaw, who has all the right dance moves, has secured her first paid work….at the age of 10.

The student from the Sarah England School of Dance, Stalybridge, has completed four sessions of filming ballet fitness workouts at Saltaire, Bradford.

And the workouts are to be broadcast on the social media channel BalletbeFit TV from March 30.

“It has been an amazing experience, not only for Kienna but also me as well,” explained proud mum Donnella who added she was alerted by the parent of another dance student about the film work.

“It has been lovely to get paid work at such a young age and lovely to be asked to keep going back.

“Kienna is a well-grounded little girl and hasn’t mentioned it to her friends. I have been more excited than her.

“She is happy dancing and it has been a bonus to get this fantastic opportunity that not many older children even get.

“It is also all credit to Sarah as Kienna would not have got this great opportunity without her work over many years.”

Sarah added: “It has been such a fantastic experience for a young dance student and I’m really proud of her.”

Dukinfield-based Kienna, a pupil at Ravensfield Junior School, is already a veteran having started dancing with Sarah England aged just three.

Donnella added Kienna dances eight hours each week with Sarah England as well as also being a member of Blaze cheerleaders whose base is at Active Copley.

Kienna does theatre workshop – signing, dancing and drama – with Sarah England on Tuesday, point ballet, modern and tap on Wednesday, contemporary on Thursday and ballet and street dance on Saturday.

She also performs cheerleading – pom and contemporary which is described as lyrical dancing – with Blaze and until recently she was on their stunt group.

For the last five years Kienna has taken part in pantomimes at Old Chapel, Dukinfield, and she danced, spoke and sang during this year’s production of Sinbad.

Kienna, whose dream is to become a professional dancer, loves contemporary and ballet.
And in May 2020 she has another big date at Disneyland Paris.

Kienna will be in a group of 30 dangers from the Sarah England School of Dance to perform a 20-minute stage show.

The dance school is also currently auditioning to take part in the Disney Parade.
