FOLLOWING the launch of the bus services’ consultation, Stalybridge North ward councillors are beginning one of their own.
They will be holding drop-in sessions in Ridgehill, Heyrod and Carrbrook to encourage residents to have their say about the buses.
Councillor Adrian Pearce said: “We want to restore bus services and make sure the routes they cover meet the needs of local people.
“It is not good enough for older people to have to struggle up Ridge Hill with their shopping or for young people to miss out on work or college so bus operators can make money on a few profitable routes.”
In Ridge Hill, Heyrod and Carrbrook, bus routes have been cut, routes shortened, their frequency reduced while bus fares have gone up.
The first drop-in session is on Tuesday, November 26 at St George’s Church, Stalybridge, from 2pm.
Further sessions will take place in early December in Heyrod and Carrbrook.
