Family of murdered Stalybridge man pay tribute

THE family of a man who was murdered in Stalybridge have paid tribute to him.

On Friday 17 January 2020, police were called to Sand Street, Stalybridge to reports of concern for welfare of a man.

Sadly, the body of 47-year-old Garrick Bates was found.

Paying tribute to Garrick his family said:

He was proud as punch of his 23 years’ service in the army where he was a Master Armoury Sergeant.

He was a big Manchester United fan, and loved his motor biking and pet dogs.

He was a loud, jolly, bubbly and sociable man who enjoyed spending his time with friends and family.

Garrick leaves behind a family – mum, dad, two children, two stepchildren and his three brothers.

The family would like to thank everyone for their kind comments so far and at this time and would respect some privacy.
